STEFANO AMERIGHI

Stefano Amerighi's winery was born from the desire to produce an exceptional Syrah, blending the farming tradition of the Amerighi family with his passion and knowledge of the wine world, and the practice of biodynamics. Located in Poggiobello di Farneta, in the municipality of Cortona, the winery spans two hills facing south-southwest, bordered by a grove and an old gravel road. Geological and climatic surveys confirmed that this terroir is perfect for planting the Syrah clones selected from the Rhône Valley.

The vineyard is managed according to the principles of biodynamic and natural agriculture. Soil cultivation and pruning are synchronized with lunar and planetary phases. Phytosanitary defense relies on minimal use of copper and sulfur, supplemented by natural macerates and teas. Biodynamic preparations enrich the soil without chemical fertilizers, while winter cover crops improve soil structure.

Vinification adheres to the winery's natural approach. The grapes, hand-harvested, are partly destemmed and foot-crushed, then placed in small cement vats for spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, without added sulfites or temperature control. Aging lasts 14 months in wood and cement, with bottling done without filtration or stabilization.

Stefano Amerighi's winery is a true laboratory of agricultural sustainability, extending natural practices to the cultivation of cereals, vegetables, fruits, and animal husbandry. Stefano Amerighi has established himself as one of the greatest interpreters of Syrah in Italy, thanks to his dedication to quality and sustainability.
