TENUTA DEMAIO
Demaio Apulian natural wines
The Demaio estate is located in San Severo, on the Puglie table, a land of indigenous vines such as Bombino or Uva di Troia. The company is run by Antonio Demaio, who inherited the passion for agriculture from his grandfather, to whom he gave a hand in his work with olive trees and vineyards since he was a child.
In the 70s Antonio decided to quit his old job to devote himself entirely to agriculture, and in 2010 he began the renovation of an old farm in the current cellar and from 2013, with the help of his son-in-law Giovanni, also passionate about wine, he started making wine.
The love for their land and nature has inspired Demaio to follow, since the beginning of his adventure, biological and traditional methods: In the vineyard the interventions are minimal as well as the use of chemicals and pesticides, in the cellar the fermentations are strictly spontaneous, with the use of only indigenous yeasts, no clarification or filtration, practices that Antonio has learned from his father and that he will pass on to his children.
The estate has 35 hectares of vineyards for the production of four labels: Bombino bianco, Bombino macerato (orange wine), Nero di Troia rosato, Nero di Troia red, pure and uncontaminated expressions of the territory.
