Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru clos de la Pucelle 2019 Jean Chartron
The Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru clos de la Pucelle 2019 is a great white wine from Burgundy produced by Jean Chartron. The Chardonnay grapes come from the historic 1.16 ha monopole vineyard owned by the Chartron family, considered one of the most prestigious in the Puligny Montrachet appellation.
The vineyard dates back to 1917 and is located at an altitude of 240 metres above sea level, facing east, very close to the important Batard Montrachet parcel. The soil here is predominantly loamy with a rich pebble soil, but the wine is also influenced by the grainy terroir of the neighbouring Grand Cru.
The Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru clos de la Pucelle 2019 is a highly expressive white Burgundy, characterised by a strongly identifiable freshness and minerality, seductive with its gentle, feminine spirit. The colour is a luminous straw yellow, while the nose expresses a very distinctive bouquet of chalk, white flowers, peach and citrus, almond and dried fruit aromas.
The sip is well balanced between softness, creaminess, freshness and tension. It is certainly still very young, it will fully express its personality after a few years of ageing in the cellar.
