Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Chalumaux" 2017 Magnum Comtesse de Cherisey
Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chalumaux is a white wine produced in the Burgundy region by Domaine Comtesse de Cherisey. This wine is a Premieur Cru, i.e. a high-quality wine produced in a specific wine-growing area.
The vinification of Comtesse de Cherisey Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chalumaux begins with the grape harvest, which is carried out exclusively by hand to ensure the utmost care and selection of the best grapes. After the harvest, the grapes are gently pressed to obtain the must, which is then left to ferment in oak barrels for around 12 months.
During fermentation, the must is kept in contact with its lees, i.e. the solid residues of the grapes and yeast, for a period of up to 12 months. This process, known as 'batonnage', allows the wine to acquire more aromas and flavours, as well as greater complexity and depth.
Comtesse de Cherisey Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chalumaux has an intense golden yellow colour with greenish highlights. On the nose, there are complex and intense aromas of ripe fruit, such as apple and pear, accompanied by hints of spice and vanilla resulting from ageing in oak barrels. In the mouth, the wine is full and complex, with a balanced structure and a pleasant acidity that gives it a long persistence.
The Comtesse de Cherisey Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chalumaux is a wine of great elegance and complexity, well representing the exceptional quality of Burgundy white wines. It pairs perfectly with fish and shellfish dishes, but can also be enjoyed on its own. Thanks to its structure, the wine can be aged for several years, allowing the taste to evolve and acquire further complexity.
