Roig Espartal BP 2021 Laureano Serres Montagut
Roig Espartal BP 2021 is a vibrant and authentic expression of Garnacha (locally called Bernatx) from the Terra Alta region, produced by Laureano Serres Montagut. This red wine comes from the Espartal vineyard, a 22-year-old plantation located in Pinell de Brai, facing south on clay-limestone soils. The Garnacha used is a native clone, perfectly adapted to this unique terroir.
The vinification of Roig Espartal BP 2021 follows a natural approach, without the addition of sulfur. The grapes are completely destemmed and undergo a 7-8 day maceration, unlike the first vintage, which involved only 3-4 days. This prolonged maceration gives the wine a full structure and excellent drinkability, while maintaining the persuasiveness and velvety typicality of the varietal.
After alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine remains sur lie for 3 months in the same material. It then ages for an additional 3 months in an ancient 1300-liter amphora discovered by Laureano in the nearby village of Miravet. This process gives Roig Espartal BP 2021 a unique complexity and depth.
The result is a complex and harmonious wine with aromatic notes of strawberries, pepper and garrigue. The palate is spherical and smooth, balanced and endowed with magnificent aromatic intensity. The Espartal BP cuvée, bottled late, has not been clarified or filtered, thus preserving all its purity and integrity.
