Rosato 2021 Massa Vecchia
Rosato of Massa Vecchia, an authentic expression of the Metalliferous Hills of Alta Maremma, is an extraordinary rosé wine that masterfully blends Malvasia Nera and Merlot grapes. This exquisite blend embodies the pioneering philosophy born in 1985, thanks to Fabrizio Niccolaini and his wife Patrizia Bertolini, devoted to artisanal production and the respect for the territory.
The vineyards, situated on the slopes of the Metalliferous Hills at approximately 200 meters above sea level, include Vigna Beruzzo 2 and Vigna Massa Vecchia. The choice of low yields, combined with strictly manual harvesting, allows for the maximum concentration of substance and quality in the grapes. Production takes place without the use of chemical products in the vineyard and cellar, following a non-invasive approach in harmony with the philosophy of respect for nature.
The heart of Massa Vecchia Rosato is Malvasia Nera, accompanied by a small percentage of Merlot. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, a brief 12-hour maceration on the skins, and a maturation period of 18 months in large oak and chestnut barrels, followed by an additional 6 months of bottle aging, contribute to creating a wine of extraordinary complexity.
In the glass, the Rosato of Massa Vecchia presents itself with a pink hue enriched with violet nuances, foreshadowing the aromatic richness that envelops the glass. The olfactory notes range from red fruits, cherries to berries, accompanied by a pleasant spiciness of white pepper against a backdrop of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, the wine reveals a surprising, thirst-quenching freshness, with a smoothness enveloped in pleasant rustic notes that harmoniously integrate with a natural salinity. Massa Vecchia Rosato is much more than a simple wine; it is the authentic voice of a territory, a sensory experience that celebrates artisanal mastery and a deep connection with the land.
