Rosso di Montalcino 2019 Casanova di Neri
Rosso di Montalcino is the “young brother” of Brunello: same grape used but it’s more fresh and easier to drink than Brunello. The Rosso di Montalcino 2019 by Casanova di Neri is a red wine produced in Tuscany, in the region of Montalcino, an hystoric area for the prodution of one of the most important italian red wine: Brunello di Montalcino. Rosso of Montalcino goes beyond the Brunello: as the Brunello, the Rosso is produced exclusively from Sangiovese Grosso coming from younger vineyards, also according to prodution disciplinary the Rosso must age for at least one year of which at least 6 months in wood barrels, against 2 years in wood barrels plus 4 months of aging in bottle, 6 for the Riserva version, of Brunello. The result is that Rosso of Montalcino is a fresher, more immediate, delicate wine that keeps the same aromas and character of its older brother for the same origin from the Sangiovese Grosso grape variety, both vinified in purity.
Rosso of Montalcino Casanova di Neri appears of a brilliant ruby color, aromas of red fruit such as cherry, floral shades of pink and violet and some balsamic notes such as licorice that we find in the finish in the mouth. It is a medium-bodied wine with a delicate tannin, easy to drink and to pair with the various Tuscan dishes but also international cuisine. A few years in the cellar is useful to have a more balanced wine that is still pleasant to drink young. With this bottle, Casanova di Neri introduces us to the famous Montalcino terroir.
