Rosso RS21 Radikon
Rosso RS21 by Radikon is a wine that embodies energy, power, and vitality, perfectly reflecting the terroir of the Collio Goriziano and the artisanal approach of the Radikon winery. This wine is a blend of Merlot and Pignolo, an ancient indigenous Friulian grape known for imparting structure and longevity to wines.
The grapes come from the hillside vineyards of Oslavia, on the border with Goriska Brda, cultivated on Flysch or ponca soils, composed of Eocene marl and sandstone. These stony, mineral-rich soils promote high-quality viticulture, allowing wines to express the terroir and vintage fully.
The vinification of Rosso RS21 follows traditional and natural methods, with spontaneous fermentation by indigenous yeasts and a 15-day maceration on the skins. The wine ages for 18 months in large oak barrels and is bottled without filtration, maintaining the purity and integrity of the grapes.
In the glass, Rosso RS21 presents a dark ruby red color with violet reflections. On the nose, it offers an intense and complex bouquet, characterized by aromas of small dark berries, spicy notes, aromatic herbs, and nuances of berry jam. Hints of bitter cocoa and roasting add depth to the olfactory profile.
On the palate, the wine has a significant body and structure, with a complex, deep, and straightforward sip. The tannic texture is well-integrated, giving the wine an enveloping and velvety sensation. The finish is long and persistent, with a pleasantly fresh and mineral closure, a distinctive hallmark of the Oslavia terroir.
