Sancerre Chavignol 2023 Gérard Boulay
Gérard Boulay's Sancerre Chavignol 2023 is a fine wine made exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc grapes from young vineyards located on the Kimmeridgian slopes in the renowned village of Chavignol. The Boulay family, rooted in Chavignol since 1380, has a rich and deep history in the area. The low yields give this wine extraordinary concentration, while maintaining exceptional balance and vibrant vitality; it is among the best vintages of recent decades.
This Sancerre is characterised by a mineral aromatic profile, with predominant notes of lime, mandarin and Bosc pear. In the mouth, these aromas are confirmed, enriched by cinnamon baked apples and a minerally fresh and lively finish. The intense and succulent acidity makes this wine perfect to be enjoyed immediately or to be aged for many years.
The Boulay family follows an oenological philosophy that favours respect for nature: during vinification, Gérard does not add yeast and uses a minimum amount of sulphites. His approach is to oversee the winemaking process without interfering, allowing the wine to fully express its terroir. The vineyards, on average around 45 years old, are farmed organically, confirming Gérard's commitment to sustainable viticulture and the production of traditional, high quality Sancerre in the prestigious village of Chavignol.
