Description

Saumur Blanc 2023 Domaine Guiberteau

Guiberteau's Saumur Blanc is a 100% French white wine Chenin blanc, the most characteristic white grape variety of the French wine region, Saumur, in the Loire valley. The wine appears straw yellow with golden reflections slightly more discharged on the edge. On the nose there is a marked saline note, followed by hints of white fruit, citrus fruits, white flowers in particular jasmine.

In the mouth the wine is elegant: the main characteristic is the flavor accompanied by a good acidity and minerality. These characteristics, as well as being synonymous with high quality, suggest that this wine can be drunk immediately, perhaps accompanied by a nice fish-based dish, but also stored for a few years in the cellar, given the potential for the innate aging of Chenin Blanc in this area.

GUIBERTEAU

Domaine Guiberteau produces Loire wines in the Saumur area, an area in contrast to the rest of the region (famous for its great Sauvignons) where Chenin Blanc reigns supreme.

The domaine is 9.4 hectares, 7 of which are in the great terroir of Brézé. Just over half of the area is planted to Chenin and the rest to Cabernet Franc. The age of the vines varies from 4 to 80 years, with a high proportion of old vines. In 2000, Romain converted the vineyards to organic management and in 2003 began the process towards AB organic certification, obtaining it in 2007.

In just a few years, the wines of Domaine Guiberteau have attracted the attention of the great international critics, making it one of the most sought-after Domaines in Saumur.
