Saumur Brézé Clos Tue-Loup 2020 Arnaud Lambert
Arnaud Lambert's Saumur Brézé Clos Tue-Loup is the embodiment of a magical place, where Cabernet Franc vines, over thirty years old, delve their roots into sandy-limestone and chalky soils. Since embracing organic farming in 2009 and more recently biodynamics, Lambert is dedicated to authentically expressing the terroir.
Hand-harvested grapes undergo vinification with minimal or no sulfur, with macerations of eight to ten days in concrete or stainless steel vats to preserve acidity, the true backbone of these wines, rather than tannins.
After twelve months of aging in barrels and concrete eggs, followed by an additional six months in the bottle, the result is a garnet-colored wine with a complex aromatic profile blending red berries with hints of tobacco and pepper. The palate is rounded, soft, with silky tannins and vibrant acidity. A juicy Cabernet Franc, with notable length, perfect to accompany a rôti de porc.
