Saumur Champigny 2009 Clos Rougeard
Saumur Champigny 2009 is a fine French Loire wine produced by Domaine Clos Rougeard. The particularity of the company, which has only 10 hectares, is to follow a visionary and anti-confomer production philosophy and to vinify each vineyard separately to preserve the innate characteristics of the terroir. These aspects have made Clos Rougeard famous in the panorama of Loire wines, in particular the Saumur appellation. The plants grow on clay-calcareous soils and are processed without chemicals, giving complex and very mineral wines, as in the case of this Saumur Champigny 2009, which is made from pure Cabernet Franc. Not too deep ruby red in color, it expresses to the nose vegetal scents, such as the classic green bell pepper and aromatic herbs, together with notes of dried fruit. In the mouth it is structured, incredibly elegant and balanced, with a persistent sip.
