Slatnik 2021 Radikon
Slatnik 2021 by Radikon is an enological masterpiece that captures the essence of the Oslavia terroir and the craftsmanship of the Radikon family. This full-bodied white wine is the result of a blend of Chardonnay and Friulano grapes, grown on sun-kissed hills caressed by the winds, with a strictly natural and sustainable approach.
The grapes, cultivated without the use of chemicals, are hand-harvested at their optimal ripeness. After destemming and crushing, the must ferments spontaneously thanks to indigenous yeasts in large truncated conical oak vats, where it macerates on the skins for about two weeks. This process gives the wine a complex structure and unique depth. The aging continues for 18 months in large oak barrels of 25-35 hl, followed by two months of rest in the bottle before being released.
In the glass, Slatnik 2021 presents a deep golden color that leans towards orange, a prelude to the surprises this wine has to offer. On the nose, it reveals an intense and complex bouquet, with aromas ranging from tropical yellow fruit to candied notes, complemented by delicate hints of resin and a subtle undertone of white chocolate. The olfactory profile is completed by buttery and citrus nuances, enriched by a delicate floral background that adds freshness.
On the palate, Slatnik is full and enveloping, with a softness derived from the Chardonnay and a vibrant freshness brought by the Friulano. Its slightly tannic and saline nuances add complexity and length to the sip, making it a balanced and harmonious wine. The richness of the Chardonnay perfectly blends with the freshness of the Friulano, creating a rich and seductive tasting experience.
This orange wine represents the elegance and craftsmanship typical of the Radikon winery. Sasa Radikon, son of the legendary Stanko, continues the family project with passion, bringing a personal touch to traditional techniques. The choice of shorter macerations compared to his father’s shows Sasa’s desire to innovate while remaining faithful to the winery’s history.
