SP68 Bianco 2021 Occhipinti
The SP68 is the state road that has marked Arianna Occhipinti's destiny: it is on that road that the contrada Fossa di Lupo in Vittoria is located, where her adventure as a producer began 18 years ago, and she travels that road every day to get to her vineyards. This Sicilian white wine, like the whole range of Arianna's wines, is a journey: a journey that tells the story of this road and the people who have travelled it.
Arianna only works with vines native to the area, this natural white wine is in fact made from a blend of 60% Moscato di Alessandria and 40% Albanello, from vines with an average age of 15 years located at an altitude of around 280 m above sea level. All production steps follow biodynamic and sustainable farming methods: fermentation is spontaneous, that is, using only indigenous yeasts, and is carried out in 85 hl cement tanks for 12 days with daily pumping over and punching down.
The producer prefers materials such as wood or cement rather than steel, which favour small oxygen exchanges with the outside and thus an initial evolution of the wine, which remains to refine in these tanks for about six months. After a further month of bottle ageing, bottling takes place without any clarification or filtration.
Arianna Occhipinti's SP68 is a wine rich in character but agile in the mouth: it shows a luminous straw yellow colour to the eye. The nose offers delicate aromas of white flowers, camomile, peaches, citrus fruits and vegetal and balsamic notes, for a fresh, elegant and mineral sip.
