MASTROBERARDINO

Mastroberardino grandi Bottiglie

Mastroberdino is one of the most important wineries not only in Campania but in the whole country, a reference point for the production of typical Campanian wines.

If today Irpinia, with its typical grape varieties such as Aglianico, Fiano and Greco di Tufo, is known and appreciated throughout the world, it is thanks to this family of winemakers, to whom important and significant historical merit must be attributed.

The Mastroberardino winery was officially founded in 1878, although the family had already been active since the mid-eighteenth century. From the end of the nineteenth century, after the phylloxera disaster that destroyed part of the great vineyard heritage, the family embarked on a long process of rediscovery and enhancement of native vines and typical Irpinia wines, so much so that Antonio Mastroberardino, awarded the title of Cavaliere del Lavoro in 1994, earned the nickname of "archaeologist of the vines".

We are talking about a reality of 250 hectares of vineyards, where the main estates are those of: Montemarani, where Mastroberardino's Taurasi is made; San Michele and Montefalcione, home to excellent expressions of Fiano; Montefusco, cradle of Greco; Mirabella, where Falanghina is produced. The entire production philosophy is aimed at generating an extraordinary fusion of tradition and past history with the modernity needed to push the company to the top of national oenology.
