Description

"Versante Nord" Nerello Mascalese 2017 Eduardo Torres Acosta

The "Versante Nord" Nerello Mascalese is a natural Sicilian wine, produced by Eduardo Torres Acosta. It comes from old 50 year old vineyards destroyed on two plots: one in the Pietramarina district in Verzella and the other in the Marchesa district in Passopisciaro, between 550 and 700 metres above sea level. 80% of nerello mascalese, the rest with other native grapes, fermentation in cement tanks, maceration for 15 days before ageing for 16 months in 25 hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels, 3200 bottles produced. The "Versante Nord" by Eduardo Torres Acosta is a volcanic, magnetic and blood red of Etna, the result of the vinification of Nerello Mascalese for almost all, together with a mixture of other local white and red berry varieties. Wine made as in the past with artisan methods.

EDUARDO TORRES ACOSTA

Eduardo Torres Acosta is a young producer of natural Sicilian wines. Born in Tenerife, he moved to Sicily in 2012, where he fell in love with the landscape and terroir of Mount Etna and decided to start making his own wine, after experience with producers like Arianna Occhipinti. Her natural wines come from limited vineyard interventions and a natural vinification with spontaneous fermentations with only indigenous yeasts.
