Vin De France "Les Enfers Tranquilles" 2019 Michel Autran
Vin De France 'Les Enfers Tranquilles' 2019 is a Loire white wine produced using natural methods by Michel Autran.
It is made from 100% Chenin Blanc grapes from the lieu-dit Les Enfers, 'hell', from a well-exposed area south of Noizay, where Michel owns 1.5 hectares of 50-year-old vines on 'perruches' (clay-limestone soils). As with both cuvées, fermentation begins in steel and is then racked by gravity into barrels (4-12 years old) purchased from Vincent Carême. After one year, the wine is transferred to stainless steel tanks, where it remains for another 12 months. No sulphite is added, only a small % of sulphur at bottling.
A lover of jazz, Michel compares 'Les Enfers Tranquilles' to a soprano saxophone for its tension, crystalline quality, incredible length and perfect balance. Rich in fruity aromas of ripe peach and quince, honey aromas and mineral notes, it offers strong acidity and minerality on the palate, citrus appeal and beautiful length on the finish.
