Vin de France Chez Charles 2020 Noella Morantin
Chez Charles is a Sauvignon-based wine grown in the Loire Valley by Noella Morantin, a young and talented producer who makes craftsmanship her pride. Noelle Morantin began her individual journey in 2009 after gaining experience in other wineries in the area. Her Domaine, 8 hectares of vineyard under biodynamic management, is located in the countryside of Pouille, a small hamlet not far from Tours.
Chez Charles is made from pure Sauvignon grapes, a semi-aromatic varietal that finds its ideal habitat in the Loire Valley, from vines over 30 years old grown on clay-loam soils. The must is fermented thanks to indigenous yeasts in oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation also takes place; after fermentations, the wine rests for 12 months on its lees before being bottled.
The glass shows an elegant bright straw yellow accompanied by an intense and complex olfactory profile with fruity and spicy hints with the vegetal notes taking center stage. In the mouth it is very drinkable, supported by a nice freshness and a long savory finish.
A wine to try to get to know the hand of this young producer who is becoming one of the most sought after among natural wine enthusiasts.
