Volnay Rouge 2018 Domaine Ami
Volnay Rouge 2018 is a natural red wine from Burgundy produced by Domaine Ami. The winery was born out of a desire to keep alive the friendship between the talented winemaker Willy, an expert in the terroir of the cote de Beaune, and the charismatic Paul who studied tasting philosophy between London and Paris, and in the winery acts as a link between the city and the countryside.
An important red wine made from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the Volnay area. Classified as a Volnay AOC village, the grapes come from vineyards resting on calcareous clay soils belonging to the Botonian period. Vinification follows organic farming principles in full respect of the terroir, fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts and ageing is carried out in old oak pièce.
Ruby red in colour, the nose offers a big, tasty fruitiness of raspberry and cherry, together with a slightly more timid spiciness that comes out after a while. The taste is medium-bodied, velvety and persistent. Excellent with first courses and dishes based on meat or game, mature cheeses.
