Guidalberto 2018 Tenuta San Guido
Guidalberto 2018 is a fine Tuscan wine from Tenuta San Guido. It is part of Supertuscan wines, considered the "younger brother" of Sassicaia, simply for its greater simplicity and freshness, maintaining the same quality as its famous competitor. It is a bottle that was born from the company's desire to try its hand at producing Merlot, which is vinified together with Cabernet Sauvignon, in the classic Bordeaux style of Bolgheri wines. The harvest is manual and is done in late August for the merlot, earlier than the Cabernet Sauvignon, which is harvested in September. Spontaneous fermentation without adding external yeasts takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 26 and 28 ° C. After a maceration of about 15 days for Merlot and 10-13 for Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine ages in French and American barriques for 15 months. The color is bright and bright ruby red. The nose is introduced by the freshness of the intense and lively Merlot fruit, which is followed by toasted notes of coffee and vegetable splashes. On the palate it is structured, with a well-defined tannic texture.
